Electrical Safety

This Electrical Safety eLearning course provides essential awareness training on the risks associated with electricity and how to work safely around electrical systems and equipment. The module helps learners understand fundamental principles of electrical safety, recognise common hazards and learn practical measures to reduce risk, including safe use of electrical appliances, basic compliance with relevant UK regulations and appropriate responses to electrical incidents. It is designed for all employees who may encounter electrical risks in their workplace, regardless of technical background.

Course Aims

The primary aims of the Electrical Safety course are to:

  • Introduce basic electrical principles so learners can recognise where electrical hazards may arise and why they pose risks.
  • Raise awareness of common electrical hazards, including electric shock, burns, fires and damaged equipment.
  • Explain key legal and compliance requirements under relevant safety regulations (such as the Electricity at Work Regulations) and employer/employee duties.
  • Provide safe working guidance, including how to assess and reduce electrical risk and safe behaviours when using electrical equipment.
  • Support immediate response knowledge, including what to do in the event of an electrical incident or emergency.

Key Learning Outcomes

By the end of this 30-minute awareness course, learners will be able to:
