This Safeguarding Children and Young People eLearning course provides essential training on recognising, understanding and acting to protect children and young people from abuse, harm and neglect. Learners will explore key safeguarding principles, legal frameworks and organisational expectations that underpin child protection. The course explains how to identify signs and indicators of abuse, how to respond appropriately and sensitively, and the correct procedures for reporting concerns. It supports staff in creating safe environments where children and young people are respected, protected and supported.
Course Aims
The primary aims of the Safeguarding Children and Young People course are to:
- Introduce core safeguarding principles and why protecting children and young people is critical
- Raise awareness of types of abuse and harm that children and young people may experience
- Clarify legal, ethical and organisational responsibilities for recognising and responding to safeguarding concerns
- Provide guidance on identifying signs and indicators of abuse promptly and accurately
- Encourage appropriate action and reporting behaviours that help protect children’s welfare
Key Learning Outcomes
By the end of this 45-minute awareness course, learners will be able to:
- Understand what safeguarding children and young people means and its importance in duty-of-care roles
- Recognise different forms of abuse and neglect that may affect children and young people
- Explain legal and organisational expectations for safeguarding, referrals and multi-agency working
- Identify signs and indicators of concern that warrant appropriate action
- Apply correct reporting procedures to ensure timely and effective safeguarding responses
