This Homeworker Awareness eLearning course provides essential training for individuals who work from home or in remote locations. It covers the key health, safety and wellbeing considerations specific to homeworking arrangements. Learners will understand how to set up a safe and comfortable workspace, identify common risks in a home environment, and apply practical strategies to manage risks related to ergonomics, electrical safety, stress, fire hazards and general work organisation. The course supports both employee and employer understanding of homeworking responsibilities to help maintain productivity and reduce the likelihood of work-related harm.
Course Aims
The primary aims of the Homeworker Awareness course are to:
- Introduce health, safety and wellbeing principles relevant to homeworking arrangements
- Raise awareness of common homeworking hazards such as slips, trips, electrical risks, ergonomic issues and fire hazards
- Explain legal responsibilities of employers and employees in a homeworking context under UK health and safety expectations
- Provide practical guidance for setting up safe and effective home workstations
- Encourage positive habits that support physical wellbeing, mental health and productivity
Key Learning Outcomes
By the end of this 30-minute awareness course, learners will be able to:
- Recognise the main risks associated with working from home and how they differ from traditional workplace settings
