Food Allergy Awareness

Food Allergy Awareness
This Food Allergy Awareness eLearning course provides learners with essential knowledge about food allergies, the risks they pose, and the measures needed to protect consumers and colleagues. The module focuses on understanding what food allergens are, recognising common allergenic ingredients, and learning how to manage and communicate about allergens safely — including preventing cross-contamination. It is designed for anyone involved in food preparation, service or handling and supports compliance with food safety and allergen information practices.
Course Aims
The primary aims of the Food Allergy Awareness course are to:

- Introduce the 14 major food allergens that must be recognised and understood under food safety expectations.
- Explain how to prevent cross-contamination during food preparation, storage, service and handling.
- Clarify relevant food labelling and information practices, including how to provide accurate allergen information for pre-packed and served foods.
- Develop safe behaviours and communication, enabling learners to respond appropriately to allergen enquiries and support allergen-safe environments.
