Display Screen Equipment

This Display Screen Equipment (DSE) eLearning course provides essential awareness training on working safely with display screen equipment — including computers, laptops, tablets and associated peripherals. The course helps learners understand how prolonged use of DSE can affect health and wellbeing, and highlights practical steps for setting up a comfortable, compliant workstation and adopting safe working practices. It is suitable for office-based staff, agile workers and anyone who regularly uses display screen equipment as part of their role.

Course Aims

The aims of the Display Screen Equipment course are to:

  • Increase understanding of DSE risks, including musculoskeletal issues, eye strain, fatigue and discomfort associated with prolonged screen use.
  • Explain legal responsibilities and compliance, including employer and employee duties under relevant health and safety regulations.
  • Provide guidance on ergonomic principles, including correct chair, desk and screen setup tailored to individual needs.
  • Promote effective posture and work habits, such as breaks, micro-pauses, task variation and stretches to reduce risk.
  • Support self-assessment and risk mitigation, enabling learners to identify hazards and make simple adjustments to their workstations.

Key Learning Outcomes

By the end of this 30-minute awareness course, learners will be able to:
