This CDM Awareness eLearning course provides a clear, concise introduction to the UK Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM 2015) and the health and safety duties they impose throughout a construction project. The training is aimed at workers, supervisors and professionals who need foundational awareness of CDM principles, duty holder responsibilities, and how safe planning, coordination and communication help reduce risk on construction projects. It supports compliance with legal requirements by explaining key concepts such as duty holders, pre-construction information, planning and construction phase safety.
Course Aims
The primary aims of the CDM Awareness course are to:
- Introduce the purpose and scope of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 and why they matter for construction safety and compliance.
- Clarify core regulatory concepts, including roles, responsibilities and terminology used in CDM.
- Explain the key duty holder roles — such as clients, designers, principal designers, principal contractors and contractors — and their obligations under CDM.
- Highlight the importance of planning and risk management, including pre-construction information and development of construction phase plans.
- Support safer project execution, emphasising risk reduction through effective communication, coordination and compliance.
